Anonymous asked: Hey, I've been too-ing and fro-ing as to whether I have a blood fetish. I've always found blood extremely attractive and got into self harm without fully realising I was doing it to get the satisfaction of seeing blood. Me and my boyfriend have discussed all of this together, and we want to start getting into blood play, so I was wondering if you have any advice or tips for beginners? I'm not looking for much, just simply to get my fix really.. Thanks :)

Hi Anon,

Certainly, I’ll be happy to help you what I can. I do better answering specific questions than talking about generalities so please feel to ask further, more detailed questions but for now a handful of basic statements.

About period sex: assuming you and your BF are already “fluid bonded” i.e. are having sex, then basically there are no limits. I’ve done many many fun things while on my period including some which would be past the edge to many such as licking my lover’s cock clean after a hard and fun period fuck or letting him use my menstrual blood as a lube when we ass fuck when just a moment before he was in my bleeding vagina and then he used my period blood to ease the way, things like that.

Now, when it comes to “drawn blood” as in using knives, scalpels, IV needles, etc. to physically break the skin so that blood from blood vessels may font forth and yes both as a top and bottom as one who does to cutting/needling and one who likes to be cut/needled and am turned on by my partner’s blood and my own as well, weeellll, that is a different story.

If you don’t have specific medical training in a clinical setting i.e. nursing or medical school that taught you all the necessary precautions and basic techniques OR you receive training from someone in the lifestyle who’s an experienced bloodplayer and can share with you the knowledge they’ve earned over the years, then I’d say in the absence of formal or knowledgeable informal training then you need to leave the bloodplay in the realm of fantasy for now, until you can find someone in RL to teach you how to do bloodplay safely and sanely and with good technique so the risk of permanent damage will be minimized.

Make no mistake about this: if you break the skin by any device, you are doing something VERY dangerous no matter how experienced you are.

Please reply back with more specific questions and we’ll continue from there!

Referencing both this photo and the one previously posted of a tampon string getting ready to be pulled out from a play partner, let me emphasize that I enjoy real life play scenes of drawn blood from arterial/vein sources, i.e. cuttings into flesh and period play scenes whether with a partner who’s menstruating or if I am or we both are.
Nothing is more intimate to me than bloodplay, period, pardon the pun.
CAUTION! Blood play is for partners who are already fluid-bonded to each and in the case of a drawn blood scene where breaking of the skin and cutting into the flesh to have blood font forth this should not be done without proper training first, either from orthodox medical classes or from a long-experienced teacher who has done many blood scenes before.
Also remember that once exposed to your play partner’s blood for the first blood play scene, you are literally fluid bonded to that person for freaking ever, you become literally blood sisters or a blood brother whatever the case may be.
Bloodplay is so very intimate because once you exchange or are exposed to someone else’s blood pathogen panel, that’s it, you can never go back to the way it was before.
So play safe but as or more importantly always play smart, use the guiding principles of RACK/Risk Aware Consensual Kink.
